Welcome to ViaLactea

VIALACTEA brings to a common forum the major surveys of the Galactic Plane from 3µm to the radio, both in thermal continuum and in atomic and molecular lines, from space missions and ground-based facilities.


VIALACTEA holdings are part of the VIALACTEA KnowledgeBase (VLKB) that include public domain images, spectroscopic datacubes and catalogs of compact sources and filamentary structures for the following Galactic Plane Surveys:

VLKB Access

The VLKB can be queried via standard SQL/TAP (click on "VL Knowledge-Base") for data download.
The master interface for the visualization, download and data analysis is a Visual Analytics application that can be downloaded and installed on your PC/Desktop and that allows 2D images multi-layer display, 3D spectral cubes visualization with contour overlays, Source catalogs overlays and SED fitting.
To access the application, a first basic User Manual and a video tutorial covering hte basic functionalities, click the button "Tools" and then follow "VL Visual Analytics Client".



The VIALACTEA tools were developed as part of a EU FP7 project funded within the FP7-SPACE-2013-1 call with Grant Agreement No. 607380.
